Filament Usage Calculator

Calculate how much filament (in grams and meters) your 3D print will use based on volume, density, and infill.

How It Works

Enter your print dimensions and infill percentage. The calculator estimates the volume of plastic used, multiplies by density to get grams, then converts to meters of filament using the spool diameter.

Formula

Filament Used (g) = Print Volume (cm3) x Infill% x Material Density (g/cm3)

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find print volume?

Most slicers (Cura, PrusaSlicer) show estimated filament weight and length before printing. You can also calculate volume from X x Y x Z dimensions times infill percentage.

Why does infill affect usage so much?

Infill is the internal structure of a print. At 20% infill, 80% of the interior is air. Higher infill = more material = more filament used.
